Elegance between glaciers and palm trees. Already in the 19th century, the first spa guests appreciated this glamorous place for its mild climate. In the course of time, prominent personalities from the Empress Elisabeth, Bismarck, Rilke, Kafka to Luciano Pavarotti and the Princesses of Monaco have also cultivated Merano's reputation as an enchanting and charming city at the foot of the mountain peaks of the Gruppo di Tessa.
The unique Alpine-Mediterranean vegetation between Merano and Bolzano offers nature, culture and indulgence at the highest level. While in Bolzano the meeting of two cultures with all their similarities and contrasts is visible, the Sarentino Valley and the Ritten represent tradition and proud farming traditions. The magnificent high plateau above Bolzano has always been considered a summer resort and is an attractive hiking area due to its earth pyramids and the Rittner Horn.
Between Merano and Bolzano the winter is rather reserved with icy temperatures and large amounts of snow. The most beautiful time here is determined by the customs during Advent, where the Christmas and Christmas markets invite you to take a trip to South Tyrol. The scent of cinnamon, fir branches, chestnuts and the wonderfully romantic atmosphere with mulled wine, punch and Christmas carols remind us of the times and tastes of childhood. Not far away are the Christmas markets of Merano and Bressanone, which are held from the end of November to the beginning of January. Winter remains rustic in the Ulten Valley, where snow and skiing remain a special experience.
