It is not a coincidence that the region around Lake Achen is known as Tyrol’s park for sports and vitality. Tyrol’s largest mountain lake is nestled between the Karwendel mountain range and the Brandenberg Alps: its many and varied recreational options make it a real gem for hikers and nature enthusiasts. Karwendel Alpine Park, southwest of Pertisau, is one of the oldest and largest protected areas in the eastern Alps. Noteworthy features include the limestone cliffs, which soar to heights of 1,000 metres, on the northern side and the cirques and mighty mountain ridges on the southern side. The idyllic hiking trails along crystal-clear Lake Achen, which can be enjoyed in combination with water routes, are also excellent.

Winter hiking trails that lead right past the hotel lure you into the natural paradise of the Karwendel and Rofan mountains, while the cross-country ski trails close to the hotel offer cross-country skiing in the face of the Bärenkopf (1,991 m) and the Rofanspitze (2,259 m).
