Life´s a dance – and in the Schnalstal, it is a dance between mountain peaks and idyllic valleys, Alpine adventures and rural tranquility, lovingly tended pastures and untamed nature. Taste Andreas´s cooking, learn from Patrizia´s knowledge of herbs, enjoy some much-needed rest in our naturally furnished suites, immerse yourself in the 30° infinity pool and the mountains around us. Welcome to the Tonzhaus!
Texel Nature Park is one of South Tyrol’s most fascinating mountain realms – and one of its most water-rich. A vast network of trails, totalling more than 240 km in length, runs through Schnalstal between the vineyards at the entrance to the valley and the magnificent glacial realm of the Ötztal Alps. The Ötzi Trail is not the only well-known attraction here: there is also the annual sheep drive, in which thousands cross over to the Ötztal Valley through Jöcher Pass, negotiating snowfields and glacial firn snow. The Spronser Seen form the centrepiece of the park: this group of more than twenty lakes represents the largest of the high-alpine lake districts.
Winter transforms the Schnalstal Valley into a quiet paradise that invites you to be mindful. The tranquillity brings with it the opportunity to let go of everyday worries. The frosty mornings and wintry sunsets invite you to allow yourself to think deeply. Recharging your batteries is wonderful in this winter setting. Or in our heavenly Alpine Spa, the feel-good retreat par excellence. Especially after a brisk cross-country skiing session on the glacier trail on the Hochjoch or a challenging ski tour to the Ötzi discovery site on the Tisenjoch (3,210 m), our year-round heated infinity pool and bio sauna are just what you need.
Sheltered by the impressive peaks of the Hochjoch (2,861 m) and the Similaun (3,599 m), the Schnalstal Valley is perfect for a winter holiday without skiing or for a skiing holiday in South Tyrol. You can spend your day on holiday in the Schnalstal Glacier ski area, where you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of numerous three-thousand metre peaks in the Ötztal Alps at an altitude of over 3,200 metres. Or you can slip into your snowshoes and experience a customised winter day step by step. Have we already mentioned the sunny Lazaun toboggan run? Winter, so beautiful and versatile!
"There are many adventures lurking here. Some of them are well-known, others are still a real insider tip. We'd love to show you all of them!"Andreas Götsch
