Winter like in the old days: Christmas markets and winter festivals, where Christmas carols are sung. Dancing on the ice and then indulging in Kaiserschmarren and Christmas cookies. The crunch of snow under the boots and – most importantly for our family-friendly holiday village – the warm laughter and sparkling eyes of children.
The Karawanken are Austria’s southernmost mountain range and a nearly undiscovered natural area at the border with Slovenia and Italy. Nestled between the Dobratsch Nature Park in the west and the sunny Gerlitzenalpe in the north, one can enjoy the magnificent Alpe-Adria landscape in the corner of three countries while winter hiking in peace.

This vision of a happy place for community living has been beautifully brought to life here. Wood from old farmhouses and huts was carefully dismantled and lovingly restored to create an authentic village character. Host Michaela loves sharing her little paradise with guests – because alone, it would only be half as wonderful.
