The Gosaukamm with the distinctive “Bischofsmütze” peak (bishop’s hat) is the westernmost outpost of the famous Dachstein range. In the shadows of these majestic mountains lies the village of Filzmoos that has retained its authentic Alpine character. The name of the village goes back to its originally mossy vegetation, to which the beautiful, flower-studded meadows still bear witness. Its location in the southernmost corner of the Salzkammergut and its proximity to the majestic peaks of the Hohe Tauern range in the west offers hikers an attractive choice of hiking and climbing routes of all levels of difficulty.
In winter, skiing is the obvious sport of choice in Filzmoos: the local ski resort and the Sportwelt amadé arena are just a few minutes away.

Filzmoos, a charming mountain village in the heart of the Salzburg Alps, offers winter fun away from the hustle and bustle. The 11.4 km long Papageno high-altitude trail at 1,600 metres above sea level – which is named after the bird catcher from Mozart’s Magic Flute – promises sport and fun with the option of stopping off at the Schörgi Alm and Radstädter Hütte ski huts. In the face of the majestic Bischofsmütze (2,458 m) and the Dachstein massif, this cosy winter sports resort is perfect for winter hiking, snowshoeing and tobogganing.
Skiing fun is guaranteed in the Filzmoos-Neuberg, Zauchensee, Flachau and Reiteralm ski areas, which can be reached in less than 20 minutes by car.
