In the footsteps of the Prince of Bismarck and Empress Sissi: Ulten Valley is the gateway to the South. This is one of the last South Tyrolean valleys in which authenticity, originality, and the special qualities of a mining area have been preserved. Its rural culture and way of life are reflected again and again, in every corner of the valley: here, Kräuterhexen (herb witches) simmer xunde (wellness) elixirs and Wanderfeen (hiking fairies) unearth long-forgotten treasures of nature. This area is a playground for anyone who loves nature, wants to stay active, or is an epicure: it’s an insider’s tip offering a Mediterranean landscape, expansive alpine pastures, the wild and romantic Stilfserjoch National Park, and the glaciers of the Ortler-Cevedale Massif with their high-alpine vegetation.
Looking for an authentic mountain atmosphere? Then pock zomm and kimm! Because the Ulten winter will be etched deep in your memory. 2-3 times a week we accompany you on snowshoes through the winter landscape to the Schusterhütte, the Kofelraster lakes and other favourite places. Mindful movement through and conscious perception of the natural scenery with all your senses are at the centre of our activities. Fancy a winter idyll with a little adrenaline rush? The touring skis and our steep mountain valleys make it possible.
The South Tyrolean Ulten Valley combines traditional mountain villages, unspoilt nature and warm hospitality without neglecting exciting winter adventures. In the small but beautiful Schwemmalm ski area, one of the most rustic mountain pasture areas in South Tyrol, young and old can perform snow dances on 25 kilometres of pistes. On the sun terraces of the ski huts with a view of the Austrian-Italian border mountain Hochfeiler (3,510 m), traditional hut fare provides the perfect refreshment.
