The sinking of a continent into the sea is recorded, as if in a gigantic book, on the red and grey western face of Seceda Mountain: even at first glance, one can take in 30 million years of the earth’s history. The layers of past geological eras are exposed, unbroken. Grey limestone suggests that the shore could not have been far away. Today, unique mountains like the peaks of Geisler (Odle) and the Sella and Langkofel (Sassolungo) massifs, which jut up steeply, are as sought-after by experienced hikers as they are by photographers and painters.
Relaxed heartbeat. Pulsating veins. Clear mind. Moving feet. When winter hiking in Val Gardena/Gröden, it’s the little things that count – but with a big impact! This decelerating winter activity aims to make moments of tranquillity vivid and infinite. To have the natural beauty of the sunny Seiser Alm or the Raschötz Hochalm in your field of vision. Experience peaceful encounters with snow hares and red deer. Reduce your stress levels and fully recharge your batteries.
If you would like company, we will be on hand to show you the most beautiful viewpoints in Val Gardena.
Nestled between the majestic peaks of the Sassolungo group and those of the renowned Sella group, Val Gardena is the source of varied winter experiences. The 175 kilometres of pistes in the Val Gardena ski area with the Saslong World Cup piste and the fascinating Sellaronda, one of the world’s most renowned ski circuits, guarantee skiing fun and panoramic views of the snow-covered peaks of the Dolomites. The valley is also a place of longing for cross-country skiing enthusiasts with over 133 kilometres of groomed trails, including the trails in Vallunga near Selva.
"We know all of Val Gardena's hiking tips - even (and especially) the secret ones! So our guests can get to know the Dolomites like true locals."Georg Mahlknecht
