The starting point is the valley station of the Karbachbahn cable car, which takes you comfortably up to the mountain station. From the mountain station, the trail leads towards Schneebergkreuz. The route passes through flowering meadows, sparse forests, and cows grazing peacefully on alpine pastures. Along the way, small benches and sunny spots invite you to take short breaks. The trail is easy to walk on, varied, and also suitable for children of elementary school age.

At the Schneebergkreuz at 1,921 m, there is an unobstructed view of the Hochkönig massif and the surrounding valleys. In good weather, with a little luck, you can even see the Großglockner. For children, reaching the summit is a little adventure, for adults a moment of peace in which to take in the vastness of the mountains.
The Vital-Hotel Post, a hiking hotel in the Salzburg region, is the ideal starting point for hikes around the Hochkönig massif. Here, hiking expertise meets warm hospitality: guided tours several times a week, individual advice on routes and equipment, and free use of the summer cable cars thanks to the included Hochkönig Card. Hiking at the High King!
