Hiking in Merano

The village of Tirolo is perched high above Merano—a small South Tyrolean town where the Alpine and Mediterranean worlds meet in a unique way. The mild climate is perfect for hikers. The hiking season starts early in March and lasts until November. The Golserhof hiking hotel sits like a crown on the mountain above Merano. On balmy evenings, the lights of the town twinkle far below the panoramic terrace, which could be your favorite place at any time of day or year.

Hiking in Merano in spring

In spring, apple blossoms spread like a fragrant sea across the hillsides, paths lead through white flower-lined lanes, and the city's gardens come to life. Merano is known for its opulent flower festivals under palm trees at this time of year, while snow still glistens white on the peaks. The famous Waalwege trails around Merano babble beneath a canopy of lime-green leaves, where the first birds chirp cheerfully – a prelude for all those who love hiking in South Tyrol.

Hiking in Merano in summer

Summer beckons you to the heights. With 600 km of hiking trails between 400 m and 2,500 m above sea level, everyone can find their favorite hike. As a guest at the Golserhof hiking hotel, you are offered four guided tours per week, many of which are personally accompanied by Patrick, the host. One of his favorite tours is the Spronser Lakes Circuit, where clear mountain lakes lie like mirrors between rocks and the sky seems almost infinite. As infinite as the view from the hotel's infinity pool, where you can cool off on hot summer days and let your gaze wander far beyond Merano. If you want to combine hiking in Merano with wellness, you will find the right balance here.

Autumn hiking in Merano

Autumn means chestnuts, Törggelen and soft light – a time when hiking in South Tyrol becomes particularly intense. It is the season when South Tyrolean nature is bursting with red apples, heavy grapes and prickly chestnuts. New wine is ready to be tasted, the Waalwege trails are covered with a soft carpet of colorful leaves, and the sun provides its last rays of warmth. For many, autumn is therefore the most beautiful time for a hiking vacation in South Tyrol.

The Golserhof – your hiking hotel in Dorf Tirol

As a guest at the Golserhof, a hiking vacation in South Tyrol also means finding balance. With yoga, golf, and weekly forest bathing, there is plenty of space for privacy and tranquility. In addition, there is individual hiking advice, which makes every tour a tailor-made experience. Perhaps it is precisely this interplay of movement and stillness that makes the Golserhof a special place for everyone who sees hiking in Merano not just as an activity, but as a holistic experience.
