Hiking without lifts – consciously slowing down
Anyone hiking in the Lüsen Valley will notice that things are done differently here than in classic Alpine vacation spots. There are deliberately no lifts or cable cars in Lüsen—a consistent approach that has preserved the valley's authenticity and tranquility. The alpine pastures are still easily accessible, even without lifts, and this makes them particularly valuable: quiet, genuine, and unspoiled.
The number of beds in the village is also deliberately kept low. Vacationers and locals share the landscape, the village, and the culture in a balanced coexistence, without mass tourism or hustle and bustle.
Helping to shape sustainable development
The fact that the Lüsner Valley has remained as it is is also thanks to personalities such as Franz Hinteregger, host at the Naturhotel Lüsnerhof. He played a key role in the sustainable, slow development of the valley. His credo: don't obstruct nature, but make it tangible – for guests and for the people who live here. At the Lüsnerhof, this philosophy is reflected in the architecture, construction and the unique Naturellness® concept, which combines nature and relaxation into a holistic experience.
Variety of tours in the Lüsen Valley
The tours on offer range from easy hikes to challenging summit tours. Whether it's an informative herb hike, a panoramic tour of the Lüsner Alm or a detour to the Peitlerkofel – there is a suitable route for every requirement.
At least ten guided tours per week with experienced alpine professionals are offered exclusively to guests by the Naturhotel Lüsnerhof. Those who prefer to explore on their own can obtain maps at the Lüsnerhof and borrow backpacks or hiking poles.
Snowshoeing in the Lüsner Valley
The Lüsner Valley is particularly charming in winter. When a glittering blanket of snow covers the alpine pastures and forests, the region is transformed into a paradise for snowshoe hiking. Without lifts and without the hustle and bustle of skiing, guests can enjoy the silence of winter and trudge through snow-covered forests and across untouched plateaus – an experience that offers both peace and adventure. The Lüsen Valley impressively demonstrates that less is more – a lesson in tranquility, authenticity, and closeness to nature that we can all learn from.
