Hike to Rotmoosalm
“Some hikes impress with their spectacular views. Others with their quiet beauty. The hike to the Rotmoosalm combines both: unspoiled trails, impressive views, and one of the most beautiful Alpine landscapes in the Gaistal,” says Christian Wandl of the Biohotel Leutascherhof.

Tour description
The hike begins at the P5 Salzbach parking lot in the Gaistal valley. Instead of taking the wide forest road, a narrow trail to the right of the parking lot leads directly into the mountains. Via the Jägersteig and the Rigelesteig, the route climbs steadily through sparse forest, past clearings, and along the Salzbach stream. With every meter of elevation gain, increasingly beautiful views of the valley and the surrounding peaks open up.
The first highlight is the idyllically situated Schäferhütte, which is perfect for a short break. From here, the trail continues across alpine meadows toward Schönberg to the Rotmoosalm, which is situated in an impressive setting amid the Wetterstein Mountains, the Mieming Mountain Range, and the Hoher Munde.
The return trip follows the same route. A varied hike featuring peaceful nature trails, panoramic views, and an authentic Tyrolean alpine atmosphere.
