Your hiking boots must fit well, have non-slip soles, provide stability, and keep your feet warm and dry. Steep, uneven paths should not be underestimated. Seek advice from a specialist store or your hiking hotel.

Stretchy hiking pants that can be rolled up or zipped off are practical for cool mornings and hot afternoons.

The first aid kit must be complete and not completely outdated. Ask your pharmacy for a compact version for hiking in the Alps. If you have forgotten plasters, there are small, herbal remedies along the way that can help with insect bites or blisters. Use the leaves of the broad plantain for this.

Seek advice from a specialist store. There are great multifunctional jackets available that cover many weather conditions at once—wet, cold, windy. Read our article on this topic: Buying the best hiking jacket

A hiking snack should be nutritious and energizing, easy to eat without making a mess, and relatively small in size. Some hiking hotels offer the option of purchasing a hiking snack.

Make sure your sunscreen has a high sun protection factor – SPF 25 or higher. It should be waterproof, as you will sweat while hiking and the protection will otherwise be lost. When applying sunscreen, pay particular attention to your neck, ears, and nose – the sun is stronger at high altitudes than you might think.

Good maps of the region can be found in every hiking hotel. Numerous tours of varying degrees of difficulty have been put together for you. You can also find tours on the Hiking Hotels Komoot account. Your Hiking Hotels hiking concierge will be happy to help you here.
