Südtiroler Waalwege: Wandern auf den Spuren des Bergwassers

In Südtirol lacht die Sonne an 300 Tagen im Jahr und es regnet jährlich nur rund 500 Millimeter Wasser. Was Urlauber freut, stellt vor allem Obstbauern vor eine große Herausforderung. Aber der Südtiroler an sich ist ein cleverer. Seit Jahrhunderten legt er nämlich sogenannte „Waale“, also möglichst flache Wasserleitungen an, um die Bergwiesen zu bewässern. Zur Wartung und Kontrolle hat jeder Waal einen parallel verlaufenden, kleinen Weg, den „Waalweg“. Im Wanderhotel Waldhof in Partschins bei Meran können Gäste auf den Spuren des Bergwassers wandern – vom Talboden über den fast hundert Meter hohen Partschinser Wasserfall und die Waalwege bis hinauf in die Bergwelt der Texelgruppe. Da schmeckt das Quellwasser im Hotel dann noch besser, wenn man selbst erwandert hat, wo es herkommt!
